How much will it cost to move to the Costa Blanca?

Answer a few questions about your move from the UK or Belgium and see a cost range for the first few months: removals, a home to rent, paperwork, health insurance and pets. Every figure comes from a published price or a typical market range, listed under the result.

Estimates only, based on published fees and typical market ranges, last checked 3 Nov 2026. Not financial, legal or tax advice. Get written quotes before committing.

Where are you moving from?

Example costs for the non-lucrative visa. Other routes (digital nomad, work, family) cost different amounts. Get your route confirmed by a qualified immigration lawyer.

As EU citizens, Belgians do not need a visa. The paperwork here is EU registration only.

What are you bringing?

Type of van

Your first home in Spain

Our assumption: 55 m² for 1 bedroom, 75 m² for 2, 100 m² for 3. Change it if you know better.

Pets

From Belgium, pets travel on their EU pet passport with a microchip and a valid rabies vaccination, so there is no extra certificate to pay for.

Your own journey

For example, ferries from Portsmouth to Bilbao or Santander are listed from about £273–£305, before you drive about 800 km south.

For example, the drive from Brussels is about 1,900 km. Add fuel, tolls and an overnight stop, or flights.

How we worked these numbers out

We used published fees where they exist (consulates, the visa centre, UK government, Spanish tax forms) and typical ranges from removal firms and rental listings where they don't. Rent uses an average asking price per m² for Orihuela Costa, plus or minus 20%. The deposit uses Spanish law: one month's legal deposit (fianza) plus up to two months' extra guarantee. All prices were last checked on 3 November 2026.

Get real removal quotes

Removal prices vary the most. Tell Sirelo your route, date and home size, and firms that cover it will send you quotes.

How this form works: it is provided by our partner Sirelo (TriGlobal B.V.). When you submit it, your details go to Sirelo and you will be contacted by up to 5 moving companies with quotes. It is free and there is no obligation to book.

Disclosure: we may receive a fee from Sirelo for each quote request sent through this form. This never adds to what you pay. Move to Costa Blanca is not a removal company and does not recommend a particular mover, so compare quotes, insurance cover and terms before you book. See our privacy policy.

Frequently asked questions

Questions about moving costs

How much does it cost to move from the UK to the Costa Blanca?
It depends mostly on how much you bring. Published ranges for UK–Spain removals run from about £600 for a part load to £13,500 or more for a large villa, and the non-lucrative visa paperwork adds several hundred pounds per person. Use the estimator above for a range that fits your household, then get written quotes.
How much is a rental deposit in Spain?
On a long-term let, the law sets a deposit (fianza) of one month's rent, and landlords can ask for an extra guarantee of up to two months. So plan for one to three months' rent, which you should get back when you leave if the home is in good order. Rules for temporary lets changed on 8 October 2026 and are still awaiting a parliamentary vote.
Do Belgians need a visa to move to Spain?
No. As EU citizens, Belgians register their residence in Spain (EU registration certificate, about €12) instead of applying for a visa. You will usually also register with the town hall (padrón).
Is this financial advice?
No. It is an estimate based on published fees and typical market ranges. Move to Costa Blanca is not a financial, legal, tax or immigration adviser. Get written quotes and confirm your residency route with a qualified professional before committing.
